Korea Railroad Simplifies Train Delay Compensation, Increasing Refund Rate from 60% to 95%
[Asia Economy (Daejeon) Reporter Jeong Il-woong] As the train delay compensation procedure has been simplified, the rate of refunding delay compensation has also increased significantly.
Korea Railroad announced on the 15th that the refund rate of train delay compensation, which had remained in the 60% range during normal times, surged to 95% last month due to the simplification of the train delay compensation procedure.
Previously, Korea Railroad accepted the recommendation of the National Assembly Land, Infrastructure and Transport Committee and improved the procedure so that train delay compensation can be automatically refunded to the payment method used by the railway user.
The existing method, where refunds were made only upon separate refund requests, was improved to automatically refund by payment method (credit card, simple payment, etc.) without separate application, thereby enhancing consumer convenience.
However, in the case of passengers who paid in cash, Korea Railroad explained that delay compensation can be refunded only when account information is registered on the Korea Railroad website, and additional guidance is provided to cash-paying passengers to register their account numbers.
