[Agyeong Poll] Hypothetical Head-to-Head 'Lee Nak-yeon 40.8% vs Yoon Seok-yeol 45.2%'
[Asia Economy Reporter Oh Ju-yeon] In a hypothetical matchup between former Prosecutor General Yoon Seok-yeol and former Democratic Party leader Lee Nak-yeon, former Yoon received 4.4 percentage points higher support than former Lee.
On the 14th, Asia Economy commissioned Win-G Korea Consulting to conduct a public opinion survey from the 11th to 12th targeting 1,022 voters nationwide aged 18 and older (100% mobile phone virtual numbers, automated response). When asked, "If former Lee and former Yoon face off in the next presidential election, whom would you support?" 40.8% responded they would support former Lee, and 45.2% said former Yoon. Compared to the previous survey conducted in the third week of August, former Yoon’s support dropped by 1.6 percentage points, and former Lee’s support fell by 0.3 percentage points.
Although both candidates’ approval ratings declined, former Yoon’s decrease was larger, narrowing the gap slightly from 5.7 percentage points in the previous survey. “Other candidates” accounted for 6.8%, “none” was 5.6%, and “don’t know” was 1.5%.
Former Lee showed strength among voters in their 40s and in the Honam region, while former Yoon received greater support from men, those aged 60 and older, and residents of Seoul, Chungcheong, and Yeongnam regions (TK, PK).
Notably, among voters in their 20s, in the “Lee Jae-myung vs. Yoon Seok-yeol” head-to-head, Governor Lee (20.2%) was significantly behind former Yoon (45.5%). However, in the “Lee Nak-yeon vs. Yoon Seok-yeol” matchup, the gap between the two candidates was not large. Support for former Lee among those in their 20s was 37.9%, and former Yoon’s was 40.2%, showing similar levels.
By party support, 77.6% of Democratic Party supporters said they backed former Lee, while 79.5% of People Power Party supporters said they supported former Yoon.
