Samsung Creates 30,000 Youth Jobs in Social Contribution... Kim Boo-kyum "Grateful for Bold Investment"
Government-Samsung 'Youth Hope ON' Partnership
[Sejong=Asia Economy Reporter Son Seonhee] Samsung announced on the 14th that it plans to create a total of 30,000 youth jobs over the next three years, with 10,000 jobs created annually through its future Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) programs. Prime Minister Kim Boo-kyum said, "What our society needs most right now is the expansion of youth jobs," and added, "I sincerely thank Samsung for its bold investment."
According to the Office for Government Policy Coordination on the same day, the government and Samsung signed a partnership for the "Youth Hope ON" project at the SSAFY Seoul Campus in Gangnam-gu, Seoul. On the government side, Prime Minister Kim, Minister of Employment and Labor Ahn Kyung-duk, and Director of the Office for Government Policy Coordination Koo Yoon-chul attended. On Samsung's side, Vice Chairman Lee Jae-yong, President Sung In-hee, President Lee In-yong, and Vice Presidents Joo Eun-gi and Na Ki-hong participated.
SSAFY is an employment-linked software (SW) education program operated for job seekers and prospective graduates under the age of 29. Samsung provides a monthly education subsidy of 1 million KRW to unemployed trainees and covers related education costs.
At the meeting, Samsung announced a social contribution plan that will increase the number of employment-linked SSAFY trainees from the current 1,000 per year to over 2,000 starting next year, and create a total of 30,000 youth jobs over the next three years through support projects such as smart factories and regional youth activists.
This meeting was the second event of the "Youth Hope ON" project promoted by Prime Minister Kim, following KT's announcement of plans to hire an additional 12,000 people through a related partnership.
