Ministry of Unification Revises Local Government Regulations on Humanitarian Aid to North Korea... "Support from Inter-Korean Cooperation Fund"
[Asia Economy Reporter Lee Ji-eun] On the 14th, the Ministry of Unification announced that it has revised the 'Regulations on the Handling of Humanitarian Aid Projects and Cooperation Projects for North Korea' to support local governments in promoting humanitarian cooperation projects with North Korea.
Accordingly, 17 metropolitan and 226 basic local governments will be collectively designated as North Korea aid project operators without separate application procedures in the future. In addition, the South-North Cooperation Fund can be provided if necessary for local governments' North Korea aid projects.
For private organizations' North Korea aid projects that include local government subsidies as funding sources, the Minister of Unification is required to notify the relevant local government within seven days from the date of receipt of the export result report.

The Ministry of Unification stated, "We expect that this revision will systematize cooperation among the government, local governments, and private organizations in the future, thereby revitalizing humanitarian cooperation with North Korea."
