BC Card, Exclusive Partnership with Workman... Launch of 'Sibal Card'
First Credit Card Company to Exclusively Partner with Web Variety Show Workman
180 KRW Discount for Purchases Between 1,800 and 18,000 KRW, 1,800 KRW Discount for Purchases Over 18,000 KRW
[Asia Economy Reporter Ki Ha-young] BC Card announced on the 14th that it has launched a new concept credit card called the 'Sibal Card' for MZ generation (Millennials + Generation Z) office workers, in collaboration with the popular web variety show 'Workman,' marking the first such partnership in the industry.
This card is the third BC self-issued card following the 'K Bank Simple Card' and 'BLACKPINK Card' released earlier this year. It is the first card product to partner with the popular YouTube program Workman, rather than a specific company or character, combining the meaning of supporting young professionals at the start of their careers with consumption trends and fun elements. The Chinese characters 始發 (Sibal) literally mean 'the beginning of something.' Recently, it has also become a slang term referring to 'Sibal expenses,' meaning spending to relieve stress.
The card design and benefits also uniquely incorporate some features of Workman content. The design includes four types reflecting relatable elements for office workers: an 'Employee ID' symbolizing the first start, two types of 'Resignation Letter' representing a new beginning, and a trendy 'Workman Sticker' design utilizing Workman's intellectual property (IP).
The benefits are offered under the name 'Special Discounts That Cross the Line,' providing billing discounts based on payment amount tiers. For amounts between 1,800 and 18,000 KRW, a discount of 180 KRW per transaction is applied (up to 5 times daily, 50 times monthly), and for amounts over 18,000 KRW, a discount of 1,800 KRW is given (up to 2 times daily, 10 times monthly).
These discounts apply to five categories?'Hwatkim Taxi' (taxi industry), 'Coffee Transfusion' (coffee shops), 'Delivery Nyamnyam' (delivery services), 'Shopping Therapy' (department stores, online malls), and 'Snack Raid' (convenience stores)?provided the user has spent at least 300,000 KRW in the previous month.
The basic discount is also generously offered. For payments at merchants other than those eligible for the special discount, a 0.7% billing discount is provided by default. The basic discount has no previous month spending requirements or discount limits.
Card applications can be made through the comprehensive financial platform Paybook, with an annual fee of 5,000 KRW for domestic-only (BC) cards and 8,000 KRW for domestic and international (Visa) cards. An event is ongoing until the 30th, offering a full cashback of the annual fee to new applicants.
