According to the animal nonprofit organization 'CARE' on the 12th, a report was received on the afternoon of the 8th about a "driver riding on a road in Daein-dong, Dong-gu, Gwangju, with a white dog (Maltese) tied to the motorcycle's cargo area."
The driver is said to have used a leash to tie the dog to the vehicle while driving on the road. It was also reported that another animal was placed in a metal cage in the motorcycle's cargo area.
CARE has posted the photo on social media to gather more reports in order to ascertain the specific facts.
A netizen who witnessed the scene said, "The driver has been riding with the dog on the motorcycle and standing in the middle of Chungjang-ro, Gwangju, for 2 to 3 years." In response, netizens expressed anger with comments such as "This is abuse. It's painful to see," "Shouldn't this be punished?" and "The dog must be suffering."
A CARE official stated, "We need to accurately determine whether the dog was intentionally tied to the motorcycle and ridden, or if this occurred briefly during a short trip," adding, "Even if there was no intent to abuse, it can be perceived as abuse."
