[Asia Economy Reporter Han Jinju] The Ministry of Gender Equality and Family will accept applications for the designation of '2021 Second Half Women and Family Type Preliminary Social Enterprises' from the 13th of this month until the 7th of next month.
Since 2012, the Ministry has selected Women and Family Type Preliminary Social Enterprises, and including 9 companies in the first half of this year, a total of 128 companies have been designated as Women and Family Type Preliminary Social Enterprises. Among them, 25 companies have transitioned to social enterprises.
To be designated as a Women and Family Type Preliminary Social Enterprise, a company must conduct business activities primarily aimed at realizing social objectives in the fields of women, family, and youth. It must also meet the organizational form requirements according to Article 8 of the Social Enterprise Promotion Act, among others.
Starting this year, not only ministry-type preliminary social enterprises but also regional-type preliminary social enterprises cannot be concurrently designated as 'Women and Family Type Preliminary Social Enterprises.'
Once designated as a Women and Family Type Preliminary Social Enterprise, companies are eligible to apply for various supports such as employee wages, professional personnel, and market access support. They can also receive additional support including company diagnosis, certification transition support, and customized consulting. The designation period is three years.
The results of the designation for Women and Family Type Preliminary Social Enterprises will be announced in November after on-site inspections of applicant companies and review by the evaluation committee.
