KakaoT Parking Lot and LGD Transparent OLED Meet to Build a 'Smart Parking Lot'
Transparent OLED Supplied to Samsung-dong COEX Parking Lot with KakaoT Parking Introduced
Entrance Glass Displayed to Provide Differentiated Parking Service Experience
[Asia Economy Reporter Kim Hyewon] LG Display is partnering with Kakao Mobility to build smart parking lots using transparent organic light-emitting diode (OLED) technology.
LG Display announced on the 12th that it has supplied 55-inch transparent OLED panels for interior use to the COEX parking lot in Samseong-dong, Seoul, operated by Kakao Mobility through its 'KakaoT Parking' service.
The transparent OLEDs were installed at six main entrances connecting the parking lot and stores. LG Display stated, "By attaching the panels to existing glass windows, space is saved while delivering clear image quality and excellent openness, creating an effect as if the glass itself is a display."
Visitors can enjoy various visuals, including welcome messages using Kakao Mobility brand videos, through the transparent screens.
LG Display also supplied 55-inch OLED panels for digital signage to support the parking lot infotainment system, including KakaoT parking usage information and customer participation advertisements.
The company explained that this supply aims to provide a differentiated parking service experience with advanced displays, as Kakao Mobility is developing COEX as an urban smart mobility hub.
Jominwoo, head of LG Display's Transparent Task, said, "We will continue to create innovative space designs and differentiated information delivery methods using transparent OLED."
