Cumulative 70 Confirmed Cases at Workplaces Employing Foreign Workers
[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Cho Hyung-joo] In the Gwangju area, new confirmed cases of COVID-19 have been reported consecutively, mainly among elementary and middle school students and foreigners.
According to Gwangju Metropolitan City on the 11th, as of 2 p.m. that day, 16 new COVID-19 cases were confirmed, classified as numbers 4383 to 4429. Among the total cumulative 4,429 cases, 335 are currently in isolation treatment.
Seven cases related to workplaces employing foreigners, etc. (4416?4418, 4420, 4422, 4425, 4426), two cases related to a logistics center in Gwangsan-gu (4414, 4415), one case related to foreigner testing in Gwangsan-gu (4419), one case related to a middle school in Buk-gu (4427), two cases related to confirmed patients from other cities/provinces (4423, 4428), one case related to previously confirmed patients (4421), and two cases under investigation due to symptomatic testing (4424, 4429).
Gwangju City conducted an administrative order for testing at foreign employment companies over eight days starting from the 3rd, testing a total of 23,025 people, with 70 positive, 22,922 negative, and 33 foreigners still under testing.
The number of confirmed cases related to foreign employment workplaces has increased to 70, the logistics center in Gwangsan-gu to 40, and confirmed cases related to the middle school in Buk-gu have also risen to 29.
Meanwhile, one student (case 4395) at an elementary school in Buk-gu, where a confirmed case was reported the previous day, tested positive after contact tracing. The quarantine authorities conducted an on-site evaluation of the school on the 10th, and among 114 people tested (1 positive, 113 negative), 113 have entered self-quarantine.
