"Jun Moon-yong, Who Says 'Flies Swarm Every Time I Hold an Exhibition,' Faces Another 15 Million Won Funding Controversy"
[Asia Economy Reporter Seoyoung Kwon] Moon Jun-yong (39), son of President Moon Jae-in, who is participating in a public art museum exhibition with a local government budget support of 15 million won, said, "I will show it through my work."
Today (the 11th), Moon posted on his Facebook page the poster for the exhibition "A New World Drawn with Light," held at the Cheongju City Museum of Art, and made this statement. Moon said, "I understand that many people are displeased with the support I receive," adding, "I have no choice but to do my best to create a good exhibition that can repay that." He further added, "I hope many people come to the exhibition and evaluate whether the support is justified or not."
On the 10th, Moon also posted photos on his Facebook containing various media reports related to this support fund receipt. He criticized, saying, "Every time I hold an exhibition, flies swarm around," and expressed regret over "the media that repeats such behavior."
Earlier, the Cheongju City Museum of Art announced on the 10th, "We selected Moon and others as invited artists for the special group exhibition celebrating the 5th anniversary of the museum's opening," and "the support amount is 15 million won." The exhibition, held to commemorate the 5th anniversary of the Cheongju City Museum of Art and the attraction of the Ochang Synchrotron Radiation Accelerator, will run from the 17th to December 19th, showcasing works by eight artists along with those of the late Nam June Paik.

Last year, Moon received 14 million won in support from the Seoul city government during the "COVID-19 Emergency Art Support," and in June, he was selected as a recipient of 69 million won in national funding through a project of the Korea Arts & Culture Education Service. When controversy arose over his eligibility, Moon rebutted, saying, "My work is experimental art," and "Artists who do this kind of work mainly produce their works with support from national or public art museums or public institutions."
