Credit Rating Agency Fitch Labels Taiwan as 'Part of China'... Taiwan Expresses "Deep Regret"
[Asia Economy Reporter Ki Ha-young] The Taiwanese government has expressed deep regret over the international credit rating agency Fitch labeling Taiwan as part of China.
According to Taiwan Central News Agency (CNA) on the 10th, Fitch announced that it would upgrade Taiwan's credit rating from AA- to AA, using the term "Taiwan, China" in the title and body of the announcement. This is the first time Fitch has labeled Taiwan as "Taiwan, China." Fitch stated that this was due to a change in company policy and an operational decision.
The Taiwanese Ministry of Finance said, "We have already told Fitch to revert to the previous designation of Taiwan, but they have not corrected it," expressing "deep regret" and adding that they will continue to communicate with Fitch in the future.
