Lee Ki-bong, Former Vice Superintendent of Jeonnam Education Office, Appointed as Secretary General of Daekyo Council
Elected as the 14th Secretary-General
[Asia Economy Reporter Han Jinju] Lee Gibong, former Deputy Superintendent of Jeollanam-do, has been appointed as the Secretary-General of the Korea Council for University Education, a consortium of four-year universities.
On July 23, the Council held a board meeting and elected the 14th Secretary-General through document and interview evaluations of candidates recommended by the screening committee from among applicants who applied for the open recruitment, followed by a secret ballot vote.
The new Secretary-General, born in 1963, entered public service through the administrative examination and has served as the Director of Education Advancement Policy, Spokesperson, Social Policy Cooperation Officer, and Chief of the Planning Office at the Ministry of Education, as well as Education Secretary at the Blue House Secretariat. Since 2017, he has been serving as Deputy Superintendent of the Jeonnam Office of Education.

After approval by the Minister of Education, the new Secretary-General officially took office on the 10th. His term is three years, until September 9, 2024.
