illoom, Practicing Eco-friendly Processes and Community Contribution... Accelerating ESG Management
[Asia Economy Reporter Kim Bo-kyung] Il룸, a lifestyle furniture brand under the Persis Group, announced on the 10th that it is continuing its ESG (Environmental, Social, and Governance) management activities, aiming for "Slow Furniture" that anyone can use safely and for a long time.
Il룸 is striving to minimize environmental pollution based on the "Eco Design Process" and is carrying out social contribution activities to improve the learning environments of youths in need.
Il룸 practices sustainable development by comprehensively considering harmful substances, recyclability, biodegradability, and energy efficiency through an eco-friendly production process applied throughout the entire furniture production cycle, from material input to disposal.
Since 2011, it has been using eco-friendly E0 grade materials for all products it manufactures directly. During the manufacturing process, water-based adhesives and cost-type adhesives that do not contain acetone, alcohol, toluene, or benzene are used to prevent the generation of harmful substances. Air pollution generated during the process is reduced by using a urethane water foaming method instead of freon gas. Additionally, the factory is equipped with eco-friendly wastewater treatment facilities to safely manage waste while producing products.
Eco-friendly methods are also applied in packaging and delivery processes to reduce carbon emissions. For cushioning materials ensuring product safety during delivery, honeycomb-shaped paper cushions are used, and since April, oxidatively biodegradable vinyl has been introduced as packaging material. Oxidative biodegradable vinyl naturally oxidizes wherever there is air and light, allowing disposal anywhere, and disappears without pollution as it serves as food for microorganisms.
Through social contribution activities, Il룸 is also leading efforts to contribute to local communities. To improve the educational environment for youths, Il룸 practices space consulting, furniture support, and sponsorship activities. Since 2014, it has participated in the "Hope Plus Education Support Project" of Seo-gu Office in Gwangju Metropolitan City for eight years, providing eco-friendly desks and chairs to about 800 youths. In 2020, it joined the social contribution platform "Happiness Alliance," which supports children in welfare blind spots, and began sponsoring the creation of learning spaces.
