40s Man Kills Wife with Long Sword During Divorce Lawsuit, Sent to Prosecutors
[Asia Economy Reporter Yoo Byung-don] A man in his 40s, accused of killing his wife with a weapon during an argument amid divorce proceedings, was handed over to the prosecution on the 10th.
The Gangseo Police Station in Seoul announced that they applied charges of murder and violations of the Act on the Control of Firearms, Swords, and Explosives against Jang Mo (49) and sent him to the Seoul Southern District Prosecutors' Office in custody.
On that day, Jang got into the transport vehicle in front of the main gate of the Gangseo Police Station at around 7:40 a.m. He remained silent when reporters asked about the reason for the crime.
Jang is accused of stabbing his wife to death with a weapon at a villa in Hwagok-dong, Gangseo-gu, at around 2 p.m. on the 3rd.
At the time of the incident, it is known that Jang swung a long sword he had been keeping during an argument with his wife, who had come home to pick up her belongings.
Jang and the victim had been living separately since May of this year while undergoing divorce proceedings. After the crime, Jang reported himself to the police.

The police plan to continue investigating other charges against Jang, including domestic violence, even after the transfer to the prosecution.
