Ministry of Employment Holds Ceremony for 'Month of Vocational Competency' in September

#Shinseong Gap Nam, CEO of Namyang ENS, a subcontractor of POSCO, was greatly worried due to the reduced maintenance volume caused by COVID-19. During this period, by implementing paid leave training, they overcame the lowered operation rate and rather improved the maintenance skills of employees. They turned a crisis into an opportunity through vocational skill development.
#Jinbeom Park, Senior Engineer at Kia Autoland in Hwaseong-si, Gyeonggi-do, submitted 9,512 ideas during his tenure, which were adopted within the company. He improved about 20 processes annually, including processing methods, tools, and environment. He contributed to raising the overall productivity of the factory and creating a safe workplace.
The Ministry of Employment and Labor and the Human Resources Development Service of Korea announced on the 8th at 3 p.m. that they awarded 91 individuals for their contributions to vocational skill development and presented certificates to 11 Korean Masters at the '2021 Vocational Skills Month Ceremony.'
CEO Shin received the 'Order of Industrial Service Merit, Bronze Tower,' one of the three 'medals' awarded to only three of the 91 recipients. He was recognized for actively developing vocational skills by conducting 'Namyang ENS specialized training' in-house and implementing paid leave training, thereby advancing the company. He said, "Raising the value of employees through education is everyone's responsibility and also a task."
Senior Engineer Park received the 'Order of Industrial Service Merit, Iron Tower,' awarded to workers. Selected as a National Quality Master in 2014, he completed 1,999 hours of internal and external training courses and earned two degrees related to his work field while balancing work and studies during his tenure. Having graduated from a humanities high school and becoming a field expert at an automobile company, Senior Engineer Park said, "By repeatedly reflecting on and improving difficulties several times, I was ultimately able to overcome them."

Meanwhile, the Ministry of Employment plans to hold vocational skill development events in September, the 'Vocational Skills Month,' including the '15th Human Resources Development Academic Conference,' the 'Work-Study Dual System Best Practice Competition,' and the 'Regional Human Resources Development Committee Day.' Each event will be conducted with minimized attendance according to regional 'social distancing' guidelines. Online events will also be held concurrently.
