"'Police Lab 2.0' Promotion in Full Swing... Research and Development Kick-off Meeting Held"
[Asia Economy Reporter Lee Gwan-ju] On the 8th, the National Police Agency and the Ministry of Science and ICT announced that they will actively promote the 'Customized Research and Development Project for Police Field (Police Lab 2.0)', which uses science and technology to solve problems in the police field demanded by the public and the police.
Police Lab 2.0 is a project that supports the participation of users, the public and police, throughout the entire process from project planning to demonstration and field application, to practically solve problems in the police field.
The two ministries expanded and reorganized the project into Police Lab 2.0, focusing on emergency issue response, future police issues, and the creation of a scientific policing ecosystem, by leveraging the successful multi-ministry collaboration experience gained through the pilot project (Police Lab 1.0) over the past three years.
In particular, before the full-scale research is conducted, a newly introduced 'pre-planning research' allows participating researchers to communicate with field police officers, enhancing researchers' understanding of the police field and improving research and development efficiency.
The 10 projects selected for this initiative are classified into ▲smart policing activities ▲advanced police officer body protection equipment ▲scientific crime investigation response ▲creation of a scientific policing ecosystem, aiming to enhance public police services and national policing capabilities. On this day, the National Police Agency held a research and development kickoff meeting, taking the first step toward successful project implementation.
