Jinju City Projects Securing 476.3 Billion KRW in 2022 Government Budget: Result of Efforts to Obtain National Funds

[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Choi Soon-kyung] Jinju City, Gyeongnam announced on the 7th that the major national budget projects for 2022 have been increased by 82.1 billion KRW compared to last year, totaling 476.3 billion KRW.
The government budget proposal was submitted to the National Assembly on the 3rd after party-government consultations and a Cabinet meeting at the end of August.
The scale of Jinju City's national budget has shown a continuous increasing trend since the 7th local government term, securing 476.3 billion KRW this year, a 20.8% increase compared to last year.
Since February, the city has been operating a special task force for securing national and local government funds, consisting of 64 members including the vice mayor as the head and department directors, until December.
Until August, each department has been intensively responding to reflect the national budget project budgets by government ministries, and from September to December, preparations are underway to respond to the National Assembly's full review of the government budget proposal.
In particular, in June, Mayor Jo Gyu-il personally visited central government ministries such as the Ministry of Strategy and Finance, the Ministry of the Interior and Safety, and the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport to explain the necessity of projects and made every effort to secure national funds by having major issues and national budget projects reflected in the government budget proposal.
Mayor Jo Gyu-il stated, “Thanks to the joint efforts of Jinju city employees and local members of the National Assembly, many projects were able to be reflected in the government budget proposal,” and added, “We will continue to strive until the government budget proposal is finalized to make 2022 a year of tangible achievements that citizens can feel.”
