Safety Experience and Education Also in the Metaverse... 2021 Seoul Safety Festival
Seoul Safe Yard to be Held Online and Non-Face-to-Face for 3 Days from 15th to 17th
Virtual Venue in Metaverse, Safety Experience Games, Relay Lectures, 119 Firefighting Songs Event, and More
[Asia Economy Reporter Lim Cheol-young] The Seoul Fire and Disaster Headquarters announced on the 8th that it will hold the ‘2021 Metaverse Seoul Safety Festival’ for three days from the 15th to the 17th under the slogan ‘In the COVID-19 era, safety one step closer to citizens.’
The Seoul Safety Festival, held annually since 2007, marks its 15th edition this year as a representative safety culture event. Due to social distancing measures, it will be held online again this year following last year.
This year’s Seoul Safety Festival actively utilized virtual reality worlds to increase interest in safety while complying with COVID-19 prevention guidelines. Various event programs will be conducted through the representative metaverse platforms ‘Roblox’ and ‘ifland.’ Using ‘Roblox,’ which is popular among youth, the festival venue was created featuring various experience corners and a safety artwork exhibition hall.
The event has gained great popularity, with about 10,000 people accessing the venue within five days of its opening on the 6th, thanks to the advantage that citizens who connect to the venue can freely roam around and enjoy safety experience games and a hidden event poster search.
From the opening day on the 15th through the 17th, a relay safety lecture featuring 15 professional safety instructors will be held on ifland. On the 15th at 3 p.m., the “FUN FUN Safety Singing Contest,” involving participants from the 119 Firefighting Children’s Song Video Contest, will also be held on ifland.
Additionally, popular YouTubers participated in producing engaging video content themed around safety. A total of seven videos have been produced and are being released from September 1. They can be viewed on Han Moon-chul TV, Kim Han-yong’s MOCAR, the parkour team Undercover, Sarang Anolja, ROBLOX Haedal Sun, Mallyang & Hongcha, and the Seoul Fire YouTube channels.
