Boseong-gun, 1 in 2 Residents Complete COVID-19 Vaccination
Second Dose Vaccination Rate Surpasses 56.6% of Total Population, First Dose at 77.8%
[Boseong=Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters, Reporter Park Cheon-seok] Boseong-gun, Jeollanam-do (Governor Kim Cheol-woo) announced that as of the 7th, the COVID-19 vaccination completion rate surpassed 56.6%, meaning that 1 in 2 residents in the entire county has completed the COVID-19 vaccination.
The second dose vaccination rate against the total population of Boseong-gun is 56.6%, and the first dose rate is 77.8%.
Among the vaccination target population (aged 18 and over), the first dose rate is 85.5%, and the second dose rate is 62.2%.
The county set its own goal of achieving 80%, higher than the government’s target of 70% for herd immunity formation, and has been thorough from the early stages of vaccination, now approaching an 80% first dose completion rate for all residents.
In particular, the vaccination rates (first dose) for seniors aged 75 and over and those aged 60 and over are 93.4% and 95.1%, respectively. For the young and middle-aged group aged 18 to 49, which started vaccination on the 26th of last month, 63.7% have completed vaccination using leftover vaccines, meaning more than half of the target population has completed the first dose.
A county official stated, “For COVID-19 prevention, it is necessary not only for our residents but also for unregistered foreigners and other vaccination blind spots to actively participate in vaccination,” adding, “We are continuously promoting vaccination at workplaces with foreign workers.”
Kim Cheol-woo, Governor of Boseong-gun, said, “The return to daily life is not far away.” He added, “I sincerely thank the residents of Boseong-gun who have actively and exemplary participated in vaccination, and we will do our best not only to block COVID-19 but also to revitalize the local economy.”
Meanwhile, to increase the vaccination rate, the county was the first nationwide to enact an ordinance related to COVID-19 vaccination incentives, and since July 1, has been providing an incentive of 20,000 KRW per person to those who have completed vaccination. The county has also promoted various administrative supports such as operating vaccination buses and monitoring senior vaccinations.
