On the First Day of National Support Fund Applications, 5.07 Million People Received '1.2666 Trillion Won'
Increase in Payment Scale and Budget Execution Rate Compared to Last Year's Emergency Disaster Relief Fund Applications
[Asia Economy Reporter Lim Cheol-young] On the first day of online applications for the National Support Fund on the 6th, 5.07 million people, accounting for 9.8% of the entire population, received a total of 1.2666 trillion KRW.
On the 7th, the Ministry of the Interior and Safety announced that 5.07 million eligible recipients with birth years ending in 1 and 6 received the National Support Fund on the first day of the week-based system applied during the first week of implementation. This amount is 47.8 billion KRW more than the results on the first day of last year's disaster relief fund application. The budget execution rate also increased from 8.6% last year to 11.5%.
By payment method, 4.63 million people (1.1566 trillion KRW, 91.3%) received funds via credit and debit cards, 390,000 people (98.4 billion KRW, 7.8%) via card-type local love gift certificates, and 47,000 people (11.7 billion KRW, 0.9%) via mobile local love gift certificates.
The week-based system is applied only during the first week of implementation. Those with birth years ending in 2 and 7 can apply on Tuesday, 3 and 8 on Wednesday, 4 and 9 on Thursday, and 5 and 0 on Friday. Online applications can be made regardless of birth year starting from the 11th.
Offline applications begin on the 13th, and the week-based system will be applied based on the last digit of the birth year, similar to the online system. Citizens wishing to receive the National Support Fund via credit or debit cards should visit the bank linked to their card to apply, while those wishing to receive it via prepaid cards or paper-type local love gift certificates should visit the community service center (eup, myeon, dong) in their residential area to apply.
Vice Minister Ko Gyu-chang said, "We hope that this National Support Fund will provide some help to citizens who are experiencing difficulties in their daily lives and livelihoods due to COVID-19," and added, "Through public-private cooperation linking our country's e-government capabilities and private card companies' resources, we will execute the fund quickly and without any issues for the people."
