The metaverse refers to a virtual world where social and cultural activities similar to the real world can take place. IBK Industrial Bank is utilizing the metaverse platform ‘Gather Town,’ which allows real-time video conversations, by creating meeting spaces, branches, and promotional halls.
According to IBK Industrial Bank on the 7th, the meeting held the previous day included Ryu Seung-tae, CEO of BogoPlay, a live commerce platform company that graduated from IBK’s startup fostering program ‘IBK Changgong,’ and Lim Hyun-seo, CEO of Tanker, an AI-based real estate data and appraisal service company.
President Yoon met with company representatives in the metaverse space to discuss the fostering and support of innovative startups, challenges faced, and toured the IBK promotional hall together.

Additionally, President Yoon visited the virtual Mokpo branch within the metaverse to hear opinions from the sales field, creating a communication experience similar to visiting an actual branch. President Yoon stated, “Even amid the spread of COVID-19, I arranged this session with the mindset of always being close to the field,” and added, “We will continue to utilize the metaverse platform as a new method of communication.”
