Gyeongnam Provincial Assembly Budget Committee Approves 200 Million KRW Cut in Education Office Supplementary Budget
[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Ju Cheol-in] The Special Committee on Budget and Settlement under the Gyeongnam Provincial Council's Education Office announced on the 6th that it conducted a comprehensive review of the 2021 second supplementary budget proposal of the Provincial Office of Education and resolved a revised plan cutting over 200 million won.
The second supplementary budget proposal of the Provincial Office of Education was submitted to the Provincial Council with a scale of 5.9983 trillion won, an increase of 8.0% or 442.2 billion won compared to the original budget of 5.5561 trillion won.
On that day, the Budget and Settlement Special Committee thoroughly reviewed the budget for projects such as preparation status for full attendance in the second semester, support for academic improvement, establishment of a smart future educational environment, and improvement of school facility environments, and adopted a revised consent plan cutting 216.25 million won from three project budgets including the expansion of the entrance road to Bansong Elementary School, along with 10 subsidiary opinions.
Chairman Son Tae-young said, "Now, one year after the outbreak of COVID-19, full attendance is being implemented in the second semester," and added, "The executive branch should pay even more attention to quarantine management to ensure that children and faculty can safely carry out educational activities."
