The incident took place at a women-only goshiwon in Nam-gu, Busan, where several pairs of shoes disappeared.
According to Busan police on the 6th, CCTV footage at the entrance of the women-only goshiwon showed a man visiting the goshiwon during the early dawn hours when few people were around. He was seen rummaging through the shoe rack in the hallway, selecting women's shoes, sniffing them, and then putting them back, repeating this behavior multiple times.
The Busan Nambu Police Station received a 112 report that shoes kept disappearing from this goshiwon and launched a full investigation.
The police identified the man from the CCTV footage who repeatedly broke into the women-only goshiwon, sniffed shoes, and committed theft, tracked his movements, and confirmed his residence.
At the man's home, five pairs of women's shoes, including sneakers, were found.

A police official stated, "Due to the possibility of evidence destruction, the man was urgently arrested, but the investigation is currently ongoing without detention."
