Gwangju City Provides 'Disaster Relief Fund' for Pregnant Women with COVID-19
300,000 KRW per person... Application from 6th to 13th
[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Yoon Jamin] Gwangju Metropolitan City announced on the 5th that it will provide disaster relief funds to pregnant women who are experiencing difficulties due to the prolonged COVID-19 pandemic.
This support fund, implemented as part of the 14th Livelihood Stabilization Measures, was prepared to alleviate the mental and economic burdens of pregnant women who are vulnerable to COVID-19 and are experiencing significant inconveniences in their daily lives.
Each pregnant woman will receive 300,000 KRW.
The applicants must be pregnant women residing (registered residents) in Gwangju City from before the announcement date of the 14th Livelihood Stabilization Measures (the 2nd) up to the application date.
However, the eligible pregnant women are those confirmed to be pregnant (or have given birth) from October 9, last year, until the application date for the ‘2021 COVID-19 Pregnant Women Disaster Relief Fund.’ Those who received support for the same pregnancy (or childbirth) in 2020 are excluded.
Only the pregnant woman herself can apply, and applications can be submitted online through the Gwangju I-Kium website or by mail.
Pregnant women wishing to apply for the disaster relief fund should prepare the disaster relief fund application form, personal information consent form, resident registration abstract, pregnancy confirmation documents (mother-child health handbook, or other documents verifying pregnancy), and a bankbook for payment.
If the applicant has already given birth, a family relation certificate specifying the relationship with the child and the date of birth must be additionally submitted. The payment will be made to the pregnant woman’s bank account.
The application period is from the 6th to the 13th, and the disaster relief funds will be paid in two phases.
Applications submitted from the 6th to the 10th will be paid in the first phase on the 16th, and applications from the 11th to the 30th, as well as those missed or with errors, will be paid in the second phase within 30 days.
The payment schedule may change depending on the review of documents and verification of eligibility.
Last year, Gwangju City also provided disaster relief funds of 100,000 KRW each to 3,729 pregnant women.
