Gwangju University Selected as Final University for General Financial Support in Basic University Competency Assessment
[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Cho Hyung-joo] Gwangju University (President Kim Hyuk-jong) announced on the 3rd that it was finally selected as a general financial support university in the Ministry of Education's '2021 University Basic Competency Diagnosis' evaluation.
Gwangju University achieved the great success of being finally confirmed as a general financial support university by gaining recognition for its competitiveness in key indicators such as student learning competency, employment and start-up support, and educational environment.
Since there are no restrictions on support for national scholarships and student loans or participation in government financial support projects, it was evaluated that an environment was established where students can focus solely on their studies, thereby solidifying its position as a prestigious university centered on employment and start-up education.
The 'University Basic Competency Diagnosis' is a policy that comprehensively evaluates the elements that higher education institutions must have every three years based on indicators such as educational environment, academic management, curriculum, student support, and educational outcomes, in order to normalize university education and reduce university quotas due to population decline.
A total of 285 universities, including general and vocational universities, participated in this University Basic Competency Diagnosis, and 136 general universities including Gwangju University were selected as financially supported universities.
