NSC Standing Committee Meeting... Initial Measures to Settle Afghan Collaborators Reviewed

View original image[Asia Economy Reporter Lee Ji-eun] On the afternoon of the 2nd, the Blue House held a Standing Committee meeting of the National Security Council (NSC) chaired by Suh Hoon, Director of the National Security Office, to review initial measures for the settlement of Afghan collaborators.
At the meeting, Kang Sung-guk, Vice Minister of Justice, attended to discuss follow-up measures related to local Afghan collaborators.
The attendees first reviewed international trends related to changes in the Afghan situation and the direction of cooperation with allies such as the United States. They also checked the initial measures for the stable settlement of local collaborators and their families who have entered Korea, and agreed to continue to seek necessary follow-up measures through close cooperation among relevant ministries and local governments.
In addition, they reviewed the progress of Korea's New Southern Policy by sector, including political security, economic cooperation, and human exchange, and agreed to cooperate more closely with related countries in the region, including the United States, to expand the scope and enhance the sustainability of the New Southern Policy.

The attendees also evaluated the results of the visit to the U.S. by Noh Kyu-duk, Director-General for Korean Peninsula Peace and Security Affairs at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, and the South Korea-U.S. consultations on North Korea policy, agreeing to further strengthen diplomatic efforts to resume dialogue with North Korea while managing the situation on the Korean Peninsula stably.
