[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Choi Soon-kyung] Jinju City, Gyeongnam Province, announced on the 2nd that on August 31st, a general director appointment and program planning meeting were held at the Jinju City Hall Situation Room to ensure the smooth hosting of the ‘2021 Hanbok Culture Week Jinju’ event.
The event was attended by Jinju Mayor Jo Gyu-il, Myungju Silk Research Institute Director Jang Min-cheol, Silkyan CEO Park Tae-hyun, and representatives from Seogyeong Broadcasting, among others.
Notably, Ryu Jae-hyun, a cultural planner gaining attention for various festivals and projects in Seoul and Gyeonggi, was appointed as the general director. Director Ryu has also served as the general director for events such as the Seoul Rose Festival and Jeonju Bibimbap Festival.
At the appointment ceremony, Mayor Jo Gyu-il stated, “Jinju is one of the world’s five famous silk-producing regions. Since the Hanbok Culture Week event is held in Jinju, the hometown of silk, I ask that a substantial and creative program be presented so that Jinju can be recognized as the mecca of Hanbok.”
Following the appointment ceremony, at the ‘2021 Hanbok Culture Week Jinju’ success strategy presentation, General Director Ryu Jae-hyun attracted attention by proposing diverse and creative content such as developing a differentiated identity through the premiumization and branding strategy of Jinju silk, developing a unique Hanbok lifestyle culture exclusive to Jinju, planning distinctive events unique to Jinju Fortress, a media art fashion show using Hanbok and LED accessories, and an unusual Hanbok show involving participation from the MZ generation.
