View original image[Asia Economy Reporter Dongwoo Lee] Korean Air announced on the 2nd that it has launched name tags and golf ball markers made from materials of the Boeing 747-400 aircraft, known as the "Queen of the Skies."
This is the second time Korean Air has produced and released eco-friendly mileage products using retired aircraft. In January, it released name tags made from scrap materials of the Boeing 777 aircraft, which gained great popularity.
The newly launched name tags and ball markers were made using materials obtained during the dismantling process of the Boeing 747-400 aircraft HL7461.
HL7461 is the last Boeing 747-400 passenger aircraft owned by Korean Air, which played a key role in the airline's growth into a global carrier. HL7461 was introduced in 1997 and flew across the skies worldwide for 23 years before retiring after its final flight from Bali to Incheon in February 2020.
The name tags and ball markers, which carry memories of Korean Air’s last Boeing 747-400 passenger aircraft, were made by cutting out parts of the aircraft fuselage. The color and design vary depending on the fuselage section used. Both products are engraved with the lettering "B747-400" along with the aircraft serial number HL7461, and each has a unique serial number, adding to their rarity value.
Korean Air sells the newly launched name tags and ball markers through mileage. The products can be purchased at the "Mileage Mall" section of the Skypass corner on the Korean Air website.
Meanwhile, separately, Korean Air has collaborated with the eco-friendly upcycling brand "project 1907" to release products made from Platex fabric recycled from discarded PET bottles, including backpacks, eco shoulder bags, and pouches, available at the Mileage Mall.
