[Asia Economy Reporter Hwang Yoon-joo] Taekwang Industrial, the first company to commercialize spandex in Korea, is unveiling its first spandex brand 'ELAFIT' in 42 years.
Taekwang Industrial announced on the 2nd that it has launched the spandex brand 'ELAFIT'. Through this new brand, the company aims to restore the prestige of Taekwang Industrial's spandex, which was the first to be commercialized domestically.
Taekwang Industrial's spandex ‘ELAFIT’ has the major advantage of superior elasticity and resilience compared to other products, making it applicable to fabrics for various uses. In particular, it can withstand high-temperature dyeing and heat treatment, and is mainly used for sportswear fabrics such as swimwear, ski wear, hiking wear, and yoga wear, which require maintaining high elasticity even after processing.
‘ELAFIT’ is a compound word of ‘ELA’TICITY and FIT, selected through a naming contest held for all employees of Taekwang Industrial and Daehan Chemical Fiber. It carries the slogan ‘Feel your movement,’ which embodies the greatest characteristics of spandex: elasticity and resilience.
Taekwang Industrial’s spandex has established itself as a representative product that provides stretchability to fabrics and garments under the integrated apparel fiber brand 'ACEPORA®'. Currently, Taekwang Industrial produces 32,000 tons of spandex annually at Taekwang Chemical Fiber Co., Ltd. located in Shangsu, China.
The new spandex brand ‘ELAFIT’ will make its debut at ‘Preview in Seoul 2021 (PIS 2021)’, held at COEX, Seoul, from September 1 to 3.
