View original image[Asia Economy Reporter Park Jun-yi] Kim Cheol-geun, Chief of Political Affairs for the People Power Party leader, criticized the ruling party for indirectly blaming the cancellation of the TV debate with Lee Jun-seok, saying, "Is this excessive mockery an attempt to hide their own shamelessness?"
On the afternoon of the 1st, Kim stated on Facebook, "What have you done so well to belittle and toy with the young opposition leader like this?"
Earlier, Song Young-gil, leader of the Democratic Party of Korea, mentioned the cancellation of the TV debate with Lee during the Supreme Council meeting that morning, saying, "It is regrettable that the TV debate with Lee on the evening of the 30th was canceled. Those conservatives in the People Power Party who blocked Lee’s TV debate, if they have issues with the Media Arbitration Act, I hope they come forward and present their arguments directly."
In response, Kim said, "Put your hand on your heart and reflect," pointing out "the Democratic Party’s stance at the time when they tried to forcibly pass the gag law on the media while shouting GSGG." He was referring to a post by Democratic Party lawmaker Kim Seung-won on Facebook targeting National Assembly Speaker Park Byeong-seok after the failure to submit the amendment to the Media Arbitration Act on the 31st of last month.
