Haenam-gun Completes COVID-19 Vaccination for Over 70% of Residents in 6 Months

[Haenam＝Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Kim Hyun] As of midnight on the 1st, Haenam-gun, Jeollanam-do, has completed at least the first dose of COVID-19 vaccination for 48,752 people, accounting for 71.6% of the total 68,055 residents.

According to the county on the 1st, it has been about six months since the first vaccination was administered in February to residents and workers of nursing hospitals and care facilities, which are vulnerable to infection control.

The vaccination rate reaches 80.9% of the target population aged 18 and over (60,283), so it is expected that the third-quarter vaccination goal of 85% will be easily achieved.

In particular, the number of fully vaccinated people who have completed the second dose is 31,979, exceeding 52.7% of the population, and it is expected to reach 75% of the population by Chuseok.

Haenam-gun is also accelerating vaccinations for young and middle-aged adults aged 18 to 49. The target number in Haenam-gun is 19,323, and advance reservations can be made through the vaccination website or the county call center by the 18th, before Chuseok.

In addition, to vaccinate undocumented foreign residents in the area, management numbers have been assigned and reservations made at the vaccination center since the 9th of last month, with plans to complete by the 3rd. Vaccination for undocumented foreigners is only possible if the COVID PCR test result is negative.

County Governor Myeong Hyun-gwan said, “Vaccination is essential to return to our precious daily lives amid the ongoing fourth wave of COVID-19,” and urged, “Please actively participate in vaccination for a safe Haenam from COVID.”
