Yeonggwang-gun to Launch 'Happy Yeonggwang Art Special' Contest from the 6th

[Yeonggwang=Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Lee Jeonseong] Jeollanam-do Yeonggwang-gun (Governor Kim Junsung) announced on the 1st that it will hold the 2021 ‘Happy Yeonggwang Art Special’ contest with residents to revitalize local cultural and artistic activities and create a space for all residents to empathize and communicate.

This contest is a project aimed at improving the cultural level of residents and realizing cultural welfare policies. The participants are invited to submit works in the field of visual arts (painting, crafts, calligraphy, sculpture, etc.) and all art fields that can be exhibited.

Eligibility is limited to artist groups and individuals who are based in the region and reside within the county.

The application period is from the 6th to the 14th. Applicants can download the application form from the county office website, fill it out, and submit it in person at the Yeonggwang Arts Center.

The submitted exhibition programs will be reviewed for artistic quality, suitability, and feasibility. Selected works will be exhibited from next month at the Yeonggwang Arts Center exhibition hall after evaluation by category or genre according to their characteristics.

A county official said, “We hope this will be a source of strength and hope for local artists who are struggling due to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic, and that it will serve as a cultural space where residents, exhausted both mentally and physically, can take a brief rest with art through this ‘Art Special.’”
