[Asia Economy Reporter Choi Dong-hyun] The group BTS successfully made a comeback on the US Billboard ‘Hot 100’ chart, maintaining a top position for the 14th consecutive week.
According to the latest chart (dated September 4) released by the US music media Billboard on the 31st (local time), BTS’s “Butter” ranked 7th on the main singles chart, the ‘Hot 100’. Despite being released nearly four months ago, “Butter” remained in the top 10 of the ‘Hot 100’ chart for 14 consecutive weeks and rose one spot compared to the previous week, confirming its enduring popularity. “Butter,” which debuted at number one on the June 5 chart and went straight to the top, has reached number one nine times in total, including seven consecutive weeks at number one, making it the song with the most weeks at number one on the Hot 100 this year.
“Butter” also showed strong performance on several other charts besides the ‘Hot 100’. It held the number one spot for 11 consecutive weeks on the ‘Song of the Summer’ chart, which aggregates streaming, radio airplay, and digital sales. On the ‘Digital Song Sales’ chart, it reached number one for the 13th time overall. Additionally, “Butter” ranked 21st on the ‘Adult Pop Airplay’, 23rd on the ‘Pop Airplay’, and 16th on the ‘Canadian Hot AC’ charts.
BTS ranked 14th with “Butter,” 16th with “Permission to Dance,” and 34th with “Dynamite” on the ‘Billboard Global 200’, which compiles streaming and sales data from over 200 countries and regions worldwide. On the ‘Billboard Global (excluding US)’ chart, “Permission to Dance” ranked 8th, “Butter” 9th, “Dynamite” 26th, and “Boy With Luv (Feat. Halsey)” 188th.
