Opening of 'Gaepo Gangnam Healing Center,' an Urban Healing Space

[Asia Economy Reporter Jongil Park] Gangnam-gu District Office (Mayor Jeong Soon-gyun) opened the Gangnam Healing Center in Gaepo-dong on the 1st, following the Samsung-dong COEX Gangnam Healing Center.

Located within Gaepo-dong Cultural Park, the Gangnam Healing Center features a meditation room with a water basin harmonizing with the park's natural scenery, an AI-based smart healthcare space, and an unmanned robot barista cafe for contactless service.

Additionally, there is a book therapy space stocked with bestsellers and professional books, as well as a personal relaxation area equipped with massage chairs.

The center operates programs in three main areas: various types of ‘meditation’ such as relaxation, chakra, fairy tale, walking, and singing bowl; ‘wellness’ activities like yoga and Pilates; and ‘culture’ including drawing and botanical art. Healing lectures for families to enjoy together will also be offered.

Prior to the opening, the district conducted a pilot program last month called ‘Singing Bowl Meditation Experience Inviting Residents.’ Participants expressed their satisfaction, saying, “It felt like my body and mind, exhausted from COVID-19, were being healed,” and showed interest in joining other programs.

Mayor Jeong Soon-gyun stated, “During the 7th local government term, Gangnam-gu has been striving to create complex cultural spaces where residents can experience and enjoy diverse cultures. We will enhance residents’ quality of life by establishing urban cultural facilities such as the upcoming complex cultural center in Segok-dong, scheduled for completion in December this year.”
