[Asia Economy Reporter Naju-seok] Seventy percent of adults in the European Union (EU) have completed COVID-19 vaccination.
Ursula von der Leyen, President of the European Commission, announced this on the 31st (local time) through social media (SNS). President von der Leyen also stated, "We need to go further" and "More Europeans need to get vaccinated."
She also mentioned, "There is a need to help other regions with vaccination."
Earlier, the European Commission announced a plan to complete vaccination for 70% of the adult population of the 27 member countries, approximately 450 million people, by this summer. Although the target has been achieved, there are regional differences. Some countries have far exceeded the 70% vaccination rate, but Eastern Europe and other areas are lagging behind.
