'Foreign Infection' Spread in Gwangju... 25 New Confirmed Cases

According to Gwangju City on the 31st, as of 2 p.m. that day, 25 people were confirmed positive for COVID-19 and were classified as cases 4054 to 4078.
Among them, 13 are foreigners residing in Gwangsan-gu.
Six cases are related to previously confirmed patients, two are related to confirmed patients from other cities and provinces, and one is related to a high school located in Seo-gu.
Five people, including cases 4056, 4062, 4064, 4068, and 4071, currently have unidentified infection routes.
The foreign confirmed cases were identified at the temporary screening clinic in Gwangsan-gu, and so far, 84 infections have been confirmed through proactive testing at this site.
Since the 16th, Gwangju City has set up a temporary screening clinic in the Gwangsan-gu area, where the proportion of foreign residents is high, and has been encouraging testing.
Given the situation, the city plans to increase the vaccination rate among foreigners to curb the spread.
Song Hye-ja, head of the Infectious Disease Control Division of the city, said at a briefing that "We are focusing on COVID-19 vaccinations mainly in Gwangsan-gu, where many foreigners reside," adding, "So far, a total of 4,500 people, including 3,800 in Gwangsan-gu, have applied, and vaccinations are planned to be carried out next month."
She added, "We will actively promote vaccination for foreigners at workplaces employing foreigners and groups in the future."
