Goheung-gun, 74.3% of First Vaccine Doses Administered, Aiming for 80% by Chuseok
[Goheung=Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Lee Hyung-kwon] Goheung-gun, Jeollanam-do (Governor Song Gwi-geun) announced that as of midnight on the 31st, 47,520 people have received at least one dose of the COVID-19 vaccine, accounting for 74.3% of the total population.
This marks about six months since the first vaccinations began on February 26, targeting residents and workers in nursing hospitals and care facilities, which are vulnerable to infection.
In particular, 32,177 people have completed both doses, exceeding 50.3% of the population, showing a smooth vaccination progress.
Currently, COVID-19 vaccinations are being administered using four types of vaccines: AstraZeneca (AZ), Pfizer, Moderna, and Janssen. Among these, AstraZeneca, Moderna, and Pfizer require two doses, while the Janssen vaccine requires only one dose.
The interval between the first and second doses is 8 to 12 weeks for AstraZeneca (AZ), 3 to 6 weeks for Pfizer, and 4 to 6 weeks for Moderna. However, for those under 50, the interval between Moderna and Pfizer vaccinations is flexibly extended up to 6 weeks depending on vaccine supply conditions.
Vaccinations for the 18 to 49 age group have been underway since August 26 and will continue until the 30th of next month at vaccination centers and designated medical institutions (vaccines: Pfizer and Moderna). Those aged 18 to 49 who have not yet made a reservation can make additional reservations until 6 p.m. on the 18th of next month.
Additionally, if individuals scheduled for vaccination after Chuseok wish to change their appointment to the period before Chuseok, from the 13th to the 19th of next month, rebooking is possible until midnight on the 2nd of next month. When making reservations, it is strongly recommended to actively use the COVID-19 vaccination pre-reservation system to book in advance before receiving the vaccination.
If online reservation is difficult, reservations can be made through the Disease Control Agency call center or the Goheung-gun Public Health Center call center.

A county official stated, “If vaccine supply is provided in a timely manner and the current vaccination pace continues, it is expected that over 80% of the population will have completed the first vaccination before Chuseok.” He added, “We sincerely thank the residents who have participated in the vaccination first, and especially hope that the younger generation, who are more active, will actively participate in vaccination to form herd immunity early so that all residents can be free from COVID-19.”
