One-Day Single-Parent Family Welfare Facility Disinfection Inspection and On-Site Opinion Hearing
[Asia Economy Reporter Lim Cheol-young] On the 1st, Kim Kyung-sun, Vice Minister of the Ministry of Gender Equality and Family, announced on the 31st that she will visit Aeranwon, a single-parent family welfare facility located in Seodaemun-gu, Seoul, to directly inspect the COVID-19 quarantine situation and listen to on-site opinions.
This visit was arranged to check the COVID-19 response system and compliance with quarantine rules at single-parent family welfare facilities following the extension of social distancing level 4 in the metropolitan area, and to hear about difficulties faced on site.
There are 122 single-parent family welfare facilities nationwide, which support housing and livelihood stability and independence after discharge for low-income, homeless single-parent families experiencing difficulties in livelihood and child-rearing. Aeranwon, the facility to be visited this time, is a specialized facility for adolescent unmarried pregnant women who inevitably face the triple hardships of study, child-rearing, and employment alone, and the existing facility was newly expanded in 2017.
