L&K Bio Discusses Collaboration with Spine Surgery Expert Anthony Shin
[Asia Economy Reporter Hyungsoo Park] L&K Biomed announced on the 30th that it has decided to discuss cooperation in technology and product development with Dr. Anthony Shin, a world-renowned authority in spinal implants.
Dr. Shin, affiliated with the Schreiner Hospital in Louisiana, arrived in Korea the day before to sign a business agreement with L&K Biomed. Performing over 400 spinal surgeries annually, he is known as a 'Champion Surgeon' in the United States.
Dr. Shin will explore comprehensive cooperation plans including new product development, improvement of existing products, evaluation of current products, and clinical training for employees at L&K Biomed. During the week, various schedules are planned such as a smart system development cooperation agreement ceremony, a visit to the Yongin factory, and interviews with media and securities analysts.
At the North American Spine Society (NASS) conference held in Boston, USA, L&K Biomed plans to demonstrate spinal implant surgery using its technology and surgical robots from a robotics company.

The smart system collects spinal-related clinical data from multiple institutions, then guides optimal surgical methods through artificial intelligence (AI) and enables automated surgery using robots. L&K Biomed's 'AI Smart System' development project is being carried out through collaboration among global experts in various fields. The global market for smart systems is expected to reach $100 billion (approximately 120 trillion KRW) by 2027.
