The Smart Wandering Detector is equipped with GPS location tracking functionality, allowing real-time tracking of the wearer’s location when a dementia patient gets lost and wanders, sending the information to the caregiver’s mobile phone.
It is also designed as a simple wristwatch with an anti-release device, enabling caregivers to check the dementia patient’s location on their phones, including ▲real-time location ▲entry and exit confirmation of safe zones ▲SOS alerts, receiving great positive feedback from families.
In May, a dementia patient registered at the Dong-gu Dementia Safety Center went missing, but thanks to cooperation with the police and location tracking via the wandering detector, the patient was found near Jisan Amusement Park and safely returned to their family.
Dong-gu has been continuously promoting projects to prevent missing dementia patients, such as issuing wandering identification tags and pre-registering fingerprints through agreements with the Dongbu Police Station.
Mayor Im Taek of Dong-gu said, “I hope that the distribution of the wandering detectors will create an environment where dementia patients and their families can feel secure,” adding, “We will continue to develop Dong-gu’s own specialized programs for dementia patients and create a dementia-friendly environment through more meticulous management.”
