US Airstrike on Kabul Bomb Vehicle Kills 9 Family Members, Including 6 Children (Update)

However, it has been reported that nine civilians from one family, including six children, were killed during the airstrike, raising questions about the legitimacy of the U.S. military's strike.
On the 29th (local time), CNN reported that immediately after a U.S. military drone airstruck a vehicle belonging to IS-Khorasan (IS-K), the Afghan branch of IS, a secondary explosion caused by bombs loaded in the vehicle occurred, killing nine family members, including six children. CNN stated that the family was boarding the vehicle for a family event in front of their home when the incident happened.
CNN, citing eyewitnesses at the scene and relatives of the deceased, reported, "Among the nine family members who died, there were three adults aged 40, 30, and 20, and the remaining six were under 10 years old. There were two two-year-olds, one three-year-old, and one four-year-old."

The bereaved family members tearfully told CNN in an interview, "We were an ordinary family. We are not Islamic State (IS), and this was a family home." Earlier, the Associated Press, citing Afghan officials, reported that three children lost their lives in the airstrike.
