Wanju-gun Operates Commuter Taxi Service for Middle and High School Students
[Wanju=Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Kim Han-ho] Wanju County will start operating school commuting taxis for middle and high school students from the 30th of this month.
According to the county on the 27th, the commuting taxi is a customized transportation service for students attending middle and high schools located in Wanju County who live within the county, with a one-way commuting distance of 2 km or more, and who cannot arrive at school on time when using the bus.
The commuting taxi for the second semester of 2021 targets 134 students attending 12 middle and high schools located in the county.
Each student pays 1,000 won per use, and the remaining fare, excluding the student’s payment, is paid directly by Wanju County to the transportation operators.
Wanju County plans to deploy about 30 commuting taxis to assist students with their school commutes.
In the first semester of 2021, 123 students used the commuting taxi service.
Wanju County has been promoting the operation of commuting taxis since 2015, and so far, more than 1,600 students have used the service.
