Jeonju City Prepares Special Exhibition on Intangible Cultural Heritage of the World
[Jeonju=Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Kim Han-ho] A planned exhibition to share the value of intangible cultural heritage that humanity must protect together and to inform citizens about domestic and international intangible cultural heritage is being held in Jeonju City.
Jeonju City, the Intangible Culture Research Institute (Director Ham Han-hee), and Jeonbuk National University LINC+ Project Group (Director Ko Young-ho) announced that from the 27th to the 3rd of next month, they will hold the "Jeonju World Intangible Heritage Award Special Exhibition - Young Curators Blooming Flower Hearts" at the Book Pillar Library on the first floor of Jeonju City Hall.
This exhibition was planned as part of the Jeonju World Intangible Heritage Award project, established in 2019 to find and award individuals and organizations who have taken the lead in inheriting and developing precious intangible cultural heritage in Jeonju City, which holds the largest number of 48 intangible cultural assets in South Korea, through an international competition.
In particular, the exhibition features the activities of domestic and international individuals and organizations who have won the Jeonju World Intangible Heritage Award from 2019 to this year for the protection and transmission of intangible heritage, presented through videos, posters, and photo zones.
Specifically, it introduces the activities of the 2019 Jeonju World Intangible Heritage Award winners △Amid Skonti (Morocco) △Contact Base (India) △Newfoundland and Labrador Heritage Foundation (Canada), the 2000 winners △Hieu Duc Bui (Vietnam) △Asama (Burkina Faso) △NGO Impacto (Mexico), and this year's 3rd award winners △Dil Kumar Barahai (Nepal) △El Pelje (Italy) △Shirinbek Dablmamatov (Tajikistan).
Additionally, in connection with the Jeonbuk National University LINC+ Project Group's Industry-Academia Cooperation Student Supporters 3D Modeling Support Team, visitors can also experience world intangible heritage realized through 3D modeling technology.
A Jeonju City official said, "We prepared this exhibition by linking the Jeonju World Intangible Heritage Award held in the intangible heritage city of Jeonju with a cultural content education program utilizing traditional cultural resources involving students. We will strive to promote intangible cultural heritage and create opportunities to get closer to citizens through cooperation with local institutions."
