[2022 Early Admission] Gachon University Opens Recruitment for 4 Advanced Departments... 'Essay Screening' Newly Established
Gachon University will recruit 3,034 students, accounting for 67% of the total admissions, through early admission for the 2022 academic year. The College of Pharmacy will select 20 students through early admission, and four newly established advanced departments (Smart Factory Major, Smart Security Major, Next-Generation Semiconductor Major, Smart City Convergence Department) will also recruit freshmen.
The early admission process is divided into the essay screening, student record screening, and comprehensive student record screening, which are being implemented for the first time this year. The essay screening selects 919 students based on 60% essay test scores and 40% student record scores. To reduce the burden of exam preparation, the test questions are based on high school textbooks and EBS CSAT-linked materials, with difficulty levels similar to descriptive and essay questions in regular high school exams. The essay test (80 minutes) consists of 9 Korean language questions and 6 math questions for the humanities track, and 6 Korean language questions and 9 math questions for the natural sciences track.
The student record screening will recruit a total of 412 students. It includes the Student Excellence Screening, which selects students based on 80% student record scores and 20% extracurricular activities (attendance, volunteer work), the Regional Balance Screening, which selects students in two stages?100% student record in the first stage and 60% student record plus 40% interview in the second stage?and the Rural Area (Student Record) Screening. The Regional Balance Screening is newly established this year, and interviews will be conducted after the CSAT. The humanities and natural sciences tracks are not subject to the CSAT minimum academic achievement criteria, but the College of Medicine, College of Korean Medicine, and College of Pharmacy are subject to these criteria.

The comprehensive student record screening is divided into the Gachon Windmill Screening, Gachon Medical Science Screening, Gachon AI·SW Screening, Social Contribution Screening, Specialized High School Screening, Rural Area (Comprehensive) Screening, and Educational Opportunity Equalization Screening. The CSAT minimum academic achievement criteria apply only to the College of Medicine, College of Korean Medicine, and College of Pharmacy, while the humanities and natural sciences tracks have no such criteria. All screenings select four times the number of candidates in the first stage based on 100% document review, then select final candidates in the second stage by reflecting 50% of the first stage score and 50% of the interview score. Submission of official language proficiency scores and extracurricular awards related to academic subjects is prohibited, and this year the self-introduction essay consists of two questions (three questions only for the College of Medicine, College of Korean Medicine, and College of Pharmacy).
