[Asia Economy Reporter Yoon Seul-gi] Independent lawmaker Yang Yi-won criticized Yoon Hee-sook of the People Power Party, who declared her resignation over illegal allegations related to her father's real estate, calling it a "runaway attitude."
On the 27th, Representative Yang appeared on TBS Radio's "Kim Eo-jun's News Factory" and said, "I believe that clarifying allegations related to illegal real estate speculation is the first responsible political attitude."
Representative Yang raised suspicions, saying, "The allegations are being revealed belatedly, but shouldn't the explanation come first? An elderly person in their eighties living in Dongdaemun, Seoul, purchased more than 3,000 pyeong of farmland. Is it true that the purchase was made to farm the land?"
He continued by mentioning that Representative Yoon worked at the Korea Development Institute (KDI) at the time, stating, "Since KDI is a public institution conducting preliminary feasibility studies for such site developments, there should be an explanation as to whether internal information was used. Instead of explaining, she said she didn't know and threw in her resignation, which was surprising."
Representative Yang urged that "I, in any case, was expelled from the Democratic Party and was investigated twice by the police special investigation unit," emphasizing that Representative Yoon should clarify the raised allegations.
Earlier, Representative Yang was expelled from the Democratic Party due to speculation allegations involving his mother. Representative Yoon criticized Yang as a "master of speculation" in response.
