UN spokesperson St?phane Dujarric stated at the regular briefing that day, "The Secretary-General is closely monitoring the situation unfolding in Kabul, especially at the airport, with great concern," conveying these remarks.
Near Hamid Karzai International Airport in Kabul, where Western countries are conducting evacuation operations following the Taliban's takeover, two bomb attacks occurred in the afternoon, resulting in numerous casualties including children and U.S. soldiers.
Spokesperson Dujarric said, "The Secretary-General extends his deepest condolences to the bereaved families and wishes a speedy recovery to the injured."
Dujarric also conveyed that Guterres said, "This incident highlights the unstable situation in Afghanistan and strengthens our resolve to continue providing urgent assistance throughout the country to help the Afghan people."
