Through this agreement, the three companies agreed to mutually cooperate in developing the automated inspection system for aeronautical lighting facilities using drones, including system development, test flights, and video analysis. Approximately 2.2 billion KRW, including 1.6 billion KRW in government support funds and research and development expenses, will be invested for system development, which is expected to be completed by 2022 with support from the Korea Institute for Advancement of Technology.
Currently, about 30,000 aeronautical lights are installed at 14 airports nationwide operated by the corporation. Once the automated inspection system using drones is commercialized, more precise management of aeronautical lighting is expected to contribute to the safe operation of aircraft.
