View original image[Asia Economy Reporter Lim Juhyung] The Islamic militant group Taliban, which has retaken control of the Afghan regime, has shocked the world with news of the brutal murder of a well-known local comedian. This comedian had made several jokes satirizing the Taliban and reportedly became a target after the Taliban entered Kabul.
According to overseas media such as the US CNN and UK BBC on the 23rd (local time), Afghan comedian Nazar Mohammad was kidnapped by the Taliban on the 29th of last month and subsequently killed. Photos and videos of Mohammad's corpse have recently been spreading on social networking services (SNS) and the internet.
Although he did not appear on broadcasts, he gained public recognition through the video-sharing SNS platform 'TikTok.' His content involved making jokes, dancing, and singing on specific topics. However, some of his jokes included satire directed at the Taliban. Ultimately, Mohammad became a target of the Taliban and was kidnapped from his home in Kandahar Province in southern Afghanistan.

After this video, Mohammad was brutally killed by Taliban members. He was tied to a tree and died with parts of his body mutilated.
Citizens who saw the photos and videos criticized the act as "an example of the Taliban's brutality."
Sarwar Danish, the Second Vice President of Afghanistan, also shared the photos on his Twitter recently, condemning, "Slapping his face is equivalent to slapping the faces of all Afghan people and is an insult to humanity and human dignity."
Writer and social activist Homeria Kaderi mourned, saying, "We will never forget the oppressed expression."
Taliban spokesperson Zabihullah Mujahid acknowledged that those who killed Mohammad were Taliban members and stated that an internal investigation into the killing is underway.

On the 17th, spokesperson Mujahid said in an official statement, "The Taliban have changed and will not act as they did in the past," adding, "Women will actively participate in society, including working, as long as it is within the framework of Islam."
However, recent reports indicate that many citizens in Afghanistan have been purged by the Taliban. According to German broadcaster Deutsche Welle and others, the Taliban have been identifying and punishing or even killing journalists who contributed to Western media.
Meanwhile, the Taliban, who ruled Afghanistan from 1996 to 2001, succeeded in retaking the capital Kabul and regaining power after 20 years.
