First Lady Kim Jung-sook: "Korea's Remarkable Development Supported by Our Nation's Strong Educational Zeal"
[Asia Economy Reporter Ryu Jeong-min] On the morning of the 25th, First Lady Kim Jung-sook held a cordial talk with Mrs. Maria Juliana Ruiz, the wife of the President of Colombia, in the reception room of the Blue House main building, discussing Korea's passion for education and other topics.
Im Se-eun, Deputy Spokesperson of the Blue House, stated, "First Lady Kim Jung-sook had a conversation with Mrs. Maria Juliana Ruiz from 10:50 to 11:50 a.m. today in the reception room on the first floor of the Blue House main building," adding, "They had a sincere discussion about resolving educational disparities caused by COVID-19."
Deputy Spokesperson Im added, "They especially shared a mutual understanding of the importance of childcare and education for the growing future generation. First Lady Kim Jung-sook mentioned that Korea's remarkable development has been supported by the country's strong enthusiasm for education, introducing Korea's public education system, free school meals, and educational broadcasting."
First Lady Kim Jung-sook expressed her gratitude for Mrs. Ruiz's visit to Korea amid the COVID-19 situation. She said, "Despite the difficult times due to COVID-19, it is a great honor that you visited Korea exclusively with President Duque of Colombia," and added, "This will contribute to cooperation between Korea and Colombia."
Mrs. Ruiz responded, "Thank you very much for such a warm welcome," and said, "I believe cooperation between Korea and Colombia will be further strengthened."
Furthermore, First Lady Kim Jung-sook spoke about the ‘P4G Seoul Summit’ held in Korea this year, emphasizing the need to overcome the climate and environmental crisis and pass on a livable Earth to future generations.
