Chuseok Train Tickets Non-Face-to-Face Advance Reservation from 31st to 2nd
[Asia Economy (Daejeon) Reporter Jeong Il-woong] Korea Railroad announced on the 25th that it will conduct pre-sales of KTX, ITX-Saemaeul, and Mugunghwa train tickets for travel from the 17th to the 22nd of next month through a 100% non-face-to-face method from the 31st of this month to the 2nd of next month.
On the first day of pre-booking (August 31), only seniors aged 65 or older and registered disabled persons under the Welfare of Disabled Persons Act can purchase train tickets online or by phone.
A separate booking day was designated for the information-vulnerable groups who are not familiar with using the internet and smartphones, and 10% of the total seats were preferentially allocated.
At this time, if the eligible person is a railroad member, they can log in to the ‘Holiday Train Ticket Reservation Exclusive Homepage’ online via PC or mobile and book tickets. Non-members can register as railroad members before the booking day or, if not familiar with internet use, can book tickets by phone.
On the 1st and 2nd of next month, all citizens, including seniors and disabled persons, can book Chuseok train tickets online via PC or mobile.

Tickets reserved during the pre-booking period must be paid for between 3 p.m. on the 2nd and midnight on the 5th of next month. Tickets not paid for will be automatically canceled and allocated to those on the waiting list.
Remaining unsold seats can be purchased from 3 p.m. on the 2nd of next month at station counters, the website, and the Korail Talk app, both online and offline, just like regular tickets.
The ‘Holiday Train Ticket Reservation Exclusive Homepage’ to assist with non-face-to-face Chuseok reservations will also be operated in advance. The exclusive homepage is scheduled to open at 2 p.m. on the 27th, where users can check their railroad membership number and password, experience the holiday ticket reservation method in advance, or receive train timetable information.
Korea Railroad plans to prioritize window seat sales during the Chuseok holiday train operation period considering the COVID-19 situation, sell only one forward-facing seat in KTX 4-person companion seats, not operate standing tickets, and thoroughly disinfect trains and stations. However, the sale of aisle seats will be determined according to the government’s COVID-19 prevention measures next month.
During the Chuseok holiday, restrictions will be in place to prevent extending the originally indicated section on the ticket, and unauthorized passengers without tickets will be fined ten times the additional fare and forcibly removed at the next stop to alleviate congestion inside the train.
